From Sherry:
Today, we met with the workers to discuss the building of the ministry house in Mlandizi. Two of the workers are Islamic and worked on the building the first house last year, so Kevin and Sherry had a relationship already. We showed them the video that Kevin had put together of the progress last year and Kevin was able to talk to them about how our God gives us something that no other gods do--JOY!
We experienced going to the market. Today was "Market Day", so there was an unusual amount of people everywhere buying and selling. There was cattle walking down the middle of the road, led by a big bull, all of which were about 10 feet away from us! All the children were calling Ashley "teacher" because that is how they relate to young American girls. Later in the afternoon, we took a trip into town to get supplies and experienced the people begging. One guy pushed another man with no lower body to our window, and he just stared at us, wanting money.
The traffic was even worse than what it is in America, for there are no traffic laws here. We saw a man on the side of the road with a machine gun, watching the people. All the kids were either holding hands or had their arms around each other protecting one another. Women nurse their babies openly. A lot of other women were balancing big buckets full of things on their heads while walking down the streets.
We are in the process of locating a bigger vehicle for travel. Our plans are to go to Mlandizi tomorrow. We will try to update what happens there.
